Isaac Bivens, 47, faces six weapons charges after officers responding to reported gunfire allegedly found him with a Taurus 9mm handgun and extended magazine
TRENTON, NJ – A ShotSpotter activation in Trenton led officers to a 47-year-old man who allegedly matched the description connected to the gunfire alert and was carrying a loaded 9mm handgun packed with hollow-point ammunition and fitted with an extended magazine, police said.
Isaac Bivens, 47, was arrested early Wednesday near Oakland Street and Hoffman Avenue.
Trenton Police patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection at approximately 1:46 a.m. following a ShotSpotter activation.
While checking the area, officers Renny Peralta and Shane Williams spotted Bivens, who police said matched the description associated with the activation.
During the investigation, officers allegedly found Bivens in possession of a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Police said the firearm was loaded with hollow-point ammunition and had an extended magazine.
Bivens was arrested without incident.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Bivens also faces charges of unlawful possession of hollow-point ammunition, certain person not to possess weapons and discharging a firearm within city limits.
The police release did not provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the ShotSpotter activation or specify whether anyone or any property was struck by gunfire.
The charges are accusations. Bivens is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
