Trenton Water Works says residential and commercial customers with seriously delinquent accounts could face water service termination starting Sept. 1 unless payment arrangements are made.

TRENTON, N.J. — Trenton Water Works announced it will resume water service terminations for eligible delinquent customer accounts beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, following the end of New Jersey’s summer utility shutoff protection program.

According to the utility, service disconnections will continue through Nov. 15 for eligible residential and commercial accounts that remain seriously delinquent. Officials are urging customers who have received past-due notices to contact the utility immediately to avoid losing water service.

Customers urged to seek payment assistance now

“Our goal is not to disconnect customers—it is to help them avoid a service interruption,” said Michael Walker, Chief of Communications and Public Outreach. “We encourage anyone who is struggling to pay their water bill to contact Customer Service.”

Walker said the utility will work with customers to explain available options and establish payment arrangements whenever possible. He added that customers who ignore delinquency notices could face avoidable interruptions in water service.

Customers who cannot pay their balance in full are encouraged to contact Trenton Water Works Customer Care at 1-866-TWW-BLUE to discuss payment options.

Assistance programs available for eligible residents

Eligible customers may qualify for utility assistance through the state’s NJ SHARES program, which provides financial assistance to help residents pay utility bills. Additional support may also be available through local organizations, including Arm In Arm, Catholic Charities, HomeFront, the Mercer County Board of Social Services, Mount Carmel Guild, and the United Way of Mercer County.

Trenton Water Works said customers should act before Sept. 1 to avoid service disruptions.
