Triangle woman arrested after knife attack during domestic dispute

A woman is facing felony charges after allegedly attempting to stab a man during a domestic dispute in Triangle.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening in Triangle, Virginia, following a domestic incident in which she allegedly attempted to stab a man during a confrontation at a residence, police said.

Officers responded at approximately 5:29 p.m. to the 3400 block of Melrose Avenue to investigate a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police found that a verbal altercation had occurred between the victim, a 28-year-old man, and an acquaintance identified as Sumaiyah Iamina Ntenda Nyx.

According to investigators, the argument escalated when Nyx struck the man and then retrieved a knife. She allegedly attempted to cut the victim multiple times during the confrontation. The victim was able to evade the blade and avoid being stabbed before the parties separated.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, though police did not disclose the exact nature of those injuries. Nyx remained at the scene and was taken into custody without further incident.

Charges and custody status

Following the investigation, Nyx was charged with attempted malicious wounding and domestic assault and battery. She is being held without bond. A court date has not yet been scheduled.

Nyx is listed as a resident of the same address where the incident occurred. No additional details about prior history between the individuals or the events leading up to the altercation have been released.

Police confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public and that the situation was contained to the individuals involved.
