The man who parked a Tesla containing an explosive device near the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas allegedly killed himself with a single gunshot wound to the head before the bomb detonated, but not before leaving a bizarre manifesto about Chinese drones in New Jersey in an email.
The bomber, Matt Livelsberger, left behind an email manifesto sent to multiple recipients, making outlandish but troubling claims about “mysterious drones” over New Jersey and alleged military cover-ups.
“China has been launching them from the Atlantic from submarines for years, but this activity recently has picked up. As of now, it is just a show of force and they are using it similar to how they used the balloon for sigint and isr, which are also part of the integrated comms system,” Livelsberger wrote. “There are dozens of those balloons in the air at any given time. The so what is because of the speed and stealth of these unmanned ACs; they are the most dangerous threat to national security that has ever existed. They basically have an unlimited payload capacity and can park it over the WH if they wanted. It’s checkmate. USG needs to give the history of this, how we are employing it and weaponizing it, how China is employing them and what the way forward is. China is poised to attack anywhere in the east coast”
Before the blast, the suspect emailed a manifesto that investigators have since obtained. In the document, the suspect made unverified claims about advanced Chinese and U.S. drone operations, including alleged sightings of drones over New Jersey launched from submarines. “China is poised to attack anywhere on the East Coast,” the manifesto stated, alleging the drones were part of covert military posturing by both nations.
The email also included references to classified military operations, with the suspect claiming to have knowledge of alleged war crimes committed during U.S. airstrikes in Afghanistan in 2019. The individual accused multiple government agencies, including the Department of Defense and CIA, of covering up civilian casualties from those strikes.
Law enforcement officials have described the manifesto as “disjointed” and “highly conspiratorial,” and they are working to determine whether the suspect’s claims have any basis in fact. Investigators believe the explosion was intentional and that the suspect acted alone.
“This appears to have been an isolated incident, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety,” a law enforcement official involved in the investigation stated. Officials are also investigating the Tesla used in the incident, which was determined to have been rented by the suspect in the days leading up to the explosion.
