Two Arrested and Charged in Connection to 2021 Queens Murder

NEW YORK, NY – In relation to a 2021 murder case, two men were arrested and charged within the 113th Precinct on Tuesday afternoon. Jayson Scott, 23, of the Bronx, and Richard Swygert, 22, of Queens, were taken into custody at 2:15 PM for their alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a 47-year-old man.

The incident, which took place on June 7, 2021, at around 12:58 PM, led to police being called to the scene at the intersection of 148 Street and Rockaway Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was quickly transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Scott faces charges including first and second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Swygert is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the 2021 shooting, which has remained active since the incident occurred.
