Two Injured in Two-Car Crash on State Route 70 in Manchester

December 27, 2023

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — On December 25, 2023, at around 1:50 pm, Manchester Township Police responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle crash on State Highway 70, near mile marker 36.5.

Upon arrival, officers found a red 2009 Pontiac G8 with significant front-end damage and a grey 2011 Subaru Outback with considerable damage to the front driver’s side. The initial investigation indicated that both vehicles were traveling west on State Highway 70 when the incident occurred. The driver of the Subaru, 23-year-old Zachary Wilson of Marlton, NJ, pulled over and attempted a U-turn to head east, leading to the collision with the Pontiac, driven by 47-year-old Troy Weal of Browns Mills, NJ. Weal tried to evade the collision but was unable to avoid striking the Subaru.

Both drivers, who were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Wilson and Weal were transported to Community Medical Center, where they are both listed in stable condition.

Emergency Medical Technicians and Firefighters from Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Accurate Towing assisted at the scene. The ongoing investigation, led by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit, suggests that an improper turn by the Subaru is the primary factor contributing to the crash.
