Two Men Shot in Alphabet City; One Dead, One Injured

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 9:49 AM, police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an assault in progress at the intersection of East 7th Street and Avenue A, within the confines of the 9th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers found a 74-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the back and a 44-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and transported both individuals to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue. Unfortunately, the 74-year-old was later pronounced deceased at the hospital, while the 44-year-old remains in stable condition.

There have been no arrests made in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
