ROBESON COUNTY, NC – Deputy Jonathan Walters and Deputy Kaelin Locklear are recovering from injuries sustained in a Tuesday morning shootout on Lois Ann Drive, Maxton.
On Wednesday, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office reported that both deputies are in stable condition and in good spirits.
The incident began when they attempted to serve a warrant to Shawn Tobin Locklear Jr. for a pre-trial violation related to a November 2022 murder case.
The confrontation escalated when Shawn Locklear Jr. opened fire, resulting in serious injuries to the deputies.
Despite his critical condition, Shawn Locklear Jr. is in stable condition after a chase that ended with his arrest a half-mile from the scene. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is monitoring the deputies’ recovery and the investigation continues.
