Two roommates charged after stabbing in Brooklyn Park home

Police say argument between three men turned violent, leaving one hospitalized with a stab wound.

BROOKLYN PARK, MD – Two men from Brooklyn Park have been arrested and charged after a late-night argument inside their shared home ended in a stabbing that sent a third roommate to the hospital, Anne Arundel County Police said.

The incident occurred on Saturday around 11:40 p.m. in the 4000 block of Belle Grove Road. When officers arrived, they found a 57-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Investigators determined that the victim and two roommates had been involved in a heated argument that escalated into violence. According to police, one suspect, identified as 44-year-old Travis Kice, allegedly restrained the victim while the second suspect, 50-year-old Michael Steven Haynes Jr., attacked him with a knife.

Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene and have been charged in connection with the assault.

Charges filed following late-night altercation

Police said Kice and Haynes face first-degree assault and related charges stemming from the incident. Detectives have not released further details about what led to the argument or whether alcohol or other factors were involved.

The victim’s injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. Officers secured the scene and recovered the weapon used in the attack.

Investigation ongoing in Northern District

The case remains under investigation by the Northern District Detective Unit. Authorities have not reported any prior incidents at the residence but are continuing to gather statements from witnesses and neighbors.
