Two people wounded before another round of gunfire
FREDERICK, Md. — Two separate shooting incidents unfolded in Frederick within about 40 minutes early Sunday, leaving two people wounded in one case and prompting detectives to investigate whether the violence is connected.
The first shooting was reported at approximately 2:43 a.m. in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Frederick Police Department.
During the investigation, officers found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Police later learned that a juvenile male had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound that investigators determined was sustained during the same incident.
Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Roughly 40 minutes later, at approximately 3:23 a.m., officers responded to the first block of West 6th Street after receiving reports of additional gunfire.
Officers confirmed shots had been fired but did not locate any victims at the second scene.
Detectives with the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating both incidents and working to determine whether they are related.
Residents and anyone who was in either area during the early morning hours of Aug. 9 are urged to review doorbell, security or surveillance camera footage for suspicious people, vehicles or activity that may assist investigators.
