PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY – Suffolk Police report that a man was shot in the leg outside a home in Port Jefferson Station on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at around 1:35 p.m. on Piedmont Drive. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In a separate incident, a child was shot and the suspect took his own life in Ridge.
This occurred at around 8:30 p.m., making it the second shooting in the local area within a span of seven hours.
Suffolk Police are investigating both incidents but have not released further details.
