Two teens adult charged in series of armed carjackings across DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two juveniles and one adult have been arrested in connection with a string of armed carjackings and related offenses throughout Washington, D.C., following a detailed investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The arrests include 16-year-old Antonio Gaither of Southeast D.C. and 17-year-old Derrick West of Northeast D.C., both charged as adults under Title 16 for multiple carjacking incidents. The charges against them span several violent encounters, including an armed carjacking with a gun on September 19 at 11th and K Streets, NE, and an armed carjacking with a knife on September 20 in the 800 block of P Street, NW. Gaither faces an additional charge for an armed carjacking on September 21 in Southeast.

Alongside the juveniles, 31-year-old Malcolm Demus of Southeast D.C. was also arrested. Demus faces charges for unauthorized vehicle use, credit card fraud, and additional offenses connected to the series of carjackings.

These incidents remain under investigation. Police urge anyone with information to contact the tip line at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in these cases.
