Unexploded Ordinance Discovered by Construction Crew in Conewago Township

CONEWAGO TOWNSHIP, PA – A potentially dangerous discovery was made by a construction crew in the 5000 block of Lewisberry Road yesterday afternoon. The Northern York County Regional Police Department reported that at approximately 5:15 PM, they were alerted to the presence of an unexploded ordinance at the construction site.

Upon arrival, law enforcement along with Strinestown Community Fire Company 26 secured the area to ensure the safety of the public and the construction workers. The scene was contained until the Pennsylvania State Police Ordinance Disposal Unit arrived to safely remove the shell.

The police department has not specified the type of ordinance found. The area was deemed safe after the successful removal of the ordinance by the disposal unit. Authorities are investigating how the ordinance ended up at the construction site and are monitoring the area to prevent any further safety risks. Residents and passersby are urged to report any suspicious or unusual items to the authorities without approaching them.
