Unexploded Ordnance Safely Secured by Alachua County Bomb Team

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL — A live 30-millimeter munition was secured by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Bomb Team after a local resident discovered the ordnance while cleaning out a relative’s home. The individual transported the ammunition to the Sheriff’s Office, where the specialized unit responded promptly to handle the situation safely.

The Sheriff’s Office has highlighted the incident as a reminder to the public of the risks involved in moving live munitions. Authorities advise residents who come across such hazardous items to refrain from handling or transporting them. Instead, they should contact the Sheriff’s Office at the provided non-emergency number for assistance.
