MASONVILLE, N.Y. — A Delaware County man has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder following the fatal stabbing of his pregnant wife and the stabbing of their two young daughters earlier this month, New York State Police announced.
Drew Garnier, 32, is accused of killing his 29-year-old wife, Samantha Garnier, who was five months pregnant, during a domestic dispute at their home on Houck Road in Masonville on the night of September 4, 2024. He also allegedly attacked their 6-year-old and 9-year-old daughters, both of whom survived the injuries.
Samantha Garnier was airlifted to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. The daughters were also hospitalized for their injuries and are recovering.
Police arrested Drew Garnier at the scene after he surrendered. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of what authorities described as “superficial wounds” before being booked into the Delaware County jail, where he is being held without bail.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack, citing only that it followed a domestic dispute between the couple, who were originally from Long Island. Investigators have declined to comment on any statements made by either the suspect or the victim at the time police arrived on the scene.
Garnier remains in custody as the investigation continues.
