Utica Police Arrest Suspect for Menacing, Weapon, and Drug Charges

UTICA, NY – On December 14th, 2023, Utica Police responded to a menacing complaint near the intersection of Route 12 and Route 8. The incident involved a property dispute during which the suspect reportedly brandished a knife and threatened the victim.

Following the altercation, both parties left the scene, and the police were subsequently notified. The Utica Police, with the aid of the New Hartford Police Department, located and detained the suspect at the New Hartford Shopping Center.

A show-up identification procedure was conducted, resulting in the positive identification of the suspect. A search conducted after his arrest revealed a glass smoking device and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Marc Nicotera, 53, from Utica, was arrested and charged with Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, with two counts for the latter charge.

Nicotera was transported to the Utica Police Department for processing. The collaborative efforts of the Utica and New Hartford Police Departments were instrumental in the swift apprehension and charging of the suspect in this case.
