WILLIAMSPORT, MD – A fire engulfed a vacant duplex on Wright Road in Williamsport on Wednesday at 6:59 PM, prompting a response from 62 firefighters. The Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS managed to control the blaze in about 50 minutes. The structure, owned by Taylor Farm LLC, was described as a two-story duplex with no current occupants.

The fire originated on the second floor or attic of the building. As of now, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the incident.

The property has been significantly damaged, with the estimated loss pegged at $50,000 for the structure. No contents were reported as lost. The building was not equipped with smoke alarms or a fire sprinkler system, which could have potentially mitigated the damage.

Local authorities have not made any arrests connected to the incident. The community is urged to come forward with any information by contacting the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office at 301-766-3881.
