Vehicle Crashes into St. John AM Church in Newark

NEWARK, DE—The Newark Police Department is currently investigating an incident where a vehicle crashed into the St. John AM Church at the intersection of New London Road and Hillside Road.

The accident occurred early on Thursday at approximately 2:06 AM. According to initial reports, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed along West Cleveland Avenue before veering off the road and colliding with the church located on the northwest corner.

The driver involved in the crash fled the scene before police officers arrived and has not yet been identified. The Newark Police made immediate contact with the church’s staff and the City of Newark Building Department, both of whom have responded to the incident.
