Victim flees to hospital after shooting in D.C., police search for attacker

WASHINGTON, DC — A manhunt is underway following a broad daylight shooting in Southwest Washington, leaving one person injured, police reported Friday afternoon.

The incident unfolded around 2:37 p.m., with officers responding to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 3rd Street and K Street, Southwest. First District officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Investigators determined the shooting initially occurred in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest. The victim then fled to 3rd and K Streets seeking assistance.

Authorities have released surveillance images of a suspect linked to the shooting and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
