Police say a 22-year-old is linked to three separate robbery and theft cases, including one in which a victim was allegedly kidnapped into a vehicle, assaulted, and robbed.
WASHINGTON, DC — A man accused of forcing a victim into a vehicle, assaulting and robbing them before pushing them back onto a Northwest DC street has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies and thefts, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said 22-year-old Alex Girma, of Northwest DC, was arrested on Friday, July 10, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
Investigators said the most serious incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, in the 1200 block of 18th Street, Northwest.
According to police, a vehicle pulled alongside the victim and one of the suspects forced the victim into the vehicle. The victim was allegedly assaulted while inside, robbed of personal property, and then pushed from the vehicle before the suspects fled.
MPD also charged Girma in connection with two additional incidents.
Police said that on Friday, February 13, at approximately 3:20 a.m., suspects approached a victim from behind in the 1200 block of 22nd Street, Northwest, snatched the victim’s property, pushed the victim during an attempt to recover it, and fled.
In a separate incident on Saturday, February 21, at approximately 3:52 a.m., police said suspects asked to borrow a victim’s cellphone in the 1200 block of 18th Street, Northwest, then ran off with it.
