DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A two-vehicle collision on Route 55 claimed the lives of both drivers Thursday morning, according to a preliminary investigation by the New Jersey State Police.
A video of the crash has been made public showing one vehicle driving in the wrong direction on the divided highway.
Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron stated that troopers responded to the crash at approximately 8:58 a.m. near milepost 51.8 on the northbound side of Route 55. A Jeep Compass, traveling southbound, crossed into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Toyota Rav4.
Both vehicles overturned as a result of the collision, and the Toyota caught fire.
The Jeep driver was identified as 62-year-old Stanley Kahana of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The driver of the Toyota was Jennifer Hufnell, 53, of Deptford Township.
