A Baltimore player claimed a top-prize Scratch-Off payout after a ticket purchase at a local liquor store
BALTIMORE, Md. — A Baltimore Vietnam veteran and longtime lottery player is celebrating a $57,777 Scratch-Off win after hitting a top prize on a Maryland Lottery ticket.
The winner claimed the prize Thursday at Maryland Lottery headquarters after purchasing a Lucky 7s Tripler Scratch-Off ticket that turned out to be worth $57,777.
According to lottery officials, the player was so surprised by the result that he sought additional verification before believing the win was real.
“I was shocked. I had to go to one of the machines. I didn’t believe it,” the winner told lottery officials.
The Baltimore resident said he has been playing lottery games for years and regularly enjoys Keno, Pick 4 and Scratch-Off tickets.
Despite the sizable payout, he said he has no plans to stop playing.
The winner told lottery officials he intends to use part of the prize money to help members of his church community while also catching up on bills.
The winning ticket was sold at Mall Spirits, located at 6630 Reisterstown Road in the Reisterstown Road Plaza Shopping Center in Baltimore.
The retailer will receive a bonus of $577.77 for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
Lucky 7s Tripler debuted in May 2025 with eight top prizes worth $57,777. Maryland Lottery officials said four top prizes remain unclaimed following the Baltimore winner’s payout.
