Classic Chevy muscle car vanishes from garage in McDowell County

McDowell County, NC — A vintage sports car disappeared from a residential garage, prompting authorities to ask for the public’s help in locating the missing vehicle.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said the car, a 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport, was last seen April 16 parked inside a garage off Bethel Church Road.

The vehicle is described as red with a black convertible top and a white interior. It bears North Carolina tag HAZ9233.

Investigators have not released details on how the vehicle was taken as the search continues.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the car’s whereabouts to contact Detective Derrick McGinnis at (828) 652-2235 ext. 1235, or call non-emergency dispatch at (828) 652-4000. Tips can also be submitted through the sheriff’s office mobile app.
