Every $5,000 ticket hit when 2-1-0-4 came up

LYNCHBURG, VA — One set of four numbers turned into 20 winning plays for a Nelson County man who repeatedly bet on 2-1-0-4 before the combination hit in a Virginia Lottery drawing, delivering a combined $100,000 payday.

The player placed $20 in exact-order wagers on the same four-number combination for the July 30 night Pick 4 drawing.

Then 2-1-0-4 came up.

Each of his 20 plays was worth $5,000, pushing the combined prize to $100,000.

The tickets were purchased at Justis Convenient Store, located at 1205 12th Street in Lynchburg.

The winner chose to remain anonymous, a choice permitted under Virginia law.

He told Virginia Lottery officials he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills and save the rest.

Pick 4 drawings are held twice daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m.

A $1 exact-order play carries a $5,000 top prize. The odds of matching all four numbers in exact order are 1 in 10,000.

The winner lives in Nelson County, which received more than $881,000 in Virginia Lottery proceeds for K-12 education during the last fiscal year.

The Virginia Lottery generated more than $914 million for K-12 education statewide in Fiscal Year 2026.
