Virginia man sentenced to 15 years for violent Myrtle Beach home invasion

Conway, SC – A Virginia man has been sentenced to 15 years in a South Carolina state prison after pleading guilty to a violent burglary at a home in Myrtle Beach’s Grande Dunes neighborhood in April 2024.

Jay’Quan Pollard, 27, of Lynchburg, entered a guilty plea on Friday to second-degree burglary violent, just one month before his trial was scheduled to begin. The plea deal was accepted by Circuit Court Judge David Caraker, who handed down the 15-year sentence, which requires Pollard to serve at least 85 percent before becoming eligible for parole.

Pollard’s conviction stems from a nighttime home invasion that left the victim shaken inside what prosecutors described as their place of sanctuary. Investigators with the Myrtle Beach Police Department identified Pollard as one of multiple individuals involved in the break-in.

As part of the plea agreement, Pollard is expected to cooperate with authorities in upcoming proceedings against his co-defendants. Prosecutors say the case remains active and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
