Federal immigration agents conducted enforcement activity along Route 35 while local officers managed traffic and public safety

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — Federal immigration agents carried out an enforcement operation in Wall Township Friday morning, prompting a response from local police who said they were not notified in advance and did not participate in the operation.

According to the Wall Township Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted the operation in the area of State Highway 35 and 18th Avenue.

Police said the department was not informed ahead of time about the federal enforcement action and had no role in its planning or execution.

After becoming aware of the activity, Wall Township officers responded to the area to maintain public safety and ensure the safe flow of traffic.

The department did not release additional information about the nature of the ICE operation or whether anyone was taken into custody.

Officials said questions regarding the enforcement action should be directed to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
