Wall Township Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Parking Lot Attack

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced the arrest of Alex J. Williams, 24, from Wall Township, on charges of attempted murder following a violent attack on his girlfriend. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Williams faces one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, specifically a machete. The endangerment charge relates to the presence of the victim’s child during the assault.

Responding to a 911 call at approximately 9:22 a.m., Wall Township Police found the female victim with multiple significant injuries. She was quickly transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition. The investigation, conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office – Major Crimes Bureau and the Wall Township Police Department, revealed that Williams had repeatedly assaulted the victim with the machete.

Williams was arrested without further incident and is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. His detention hearing is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Richard W. English. Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Cummings of the MCPO Major Crimes Bureau is leading the prosecution. The legal representation for Williams has not yet been disclosed.
