Wall Township Patrolman Megan Alexander Honored with Kimberly Smith Ames Award

January 20, 2024

Patrolman Megan Alexander of the Wall Township Police Department received the prestigious Kimberly Smith Ames Award on Thursday, January 18, 2024. This recognition is awarded for her consistent and dedicated efforts in combating impaired driving.

The award commemorates the life of Kimberly Smith-Ames, who tragically lost her life at the age of 23, along with her unborn child, in a drunk driving incident in Beachwood on October 7, 1998. Kimberly’s parents, Edward and Carol Smith, established this award in memory of their daughter. It is presented annually to a police officer in Ocean County and Monmouth County who demonstrates a strong commitment to preventing drunk driving.

Patrolman Alexander, who is currently serving in the Patrol Division of the Wall Township Police Department, also contributes as a member of the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (S.C.A.R.T. Team). Furthermore, she is a recognized drug recognition expert and serves as an instructor at the Monmouth County Police Academy.
