Wallet snatched in violent queens street robbery

Victim knocked to ground before suspect fled

QUEENS, N.Y. — A man was violently robbed of his wallet after being attacked from behind on a Queens street, and police are asking the public to help identify the suspect.

According to the NYPD, the robbery occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Aug. 2 near the intersection of 80th Street and 97th Avenue within the confines of the 102nd Precinct.

Investigators said a 25-year-old man was approached from behind by an unidentified individual, who allegedly threw him to the ground before forcibly taking his wallet.

Police said the stolen wallet contained approximately $500 in cash.

The suspect fled the area on foot, traveling westbound on 95th Avenue.

No arrests have been announced.
