Winning ticket sold at local Circle K

CANTON, Ohio — A Stark County Lottery player turned a scratch-off purchase into a $50,000 payday after buying a Billion ticket at a Canton convenience store.

The Ohio Lottery said the winning ticket was purchased at Circle K #5626, located at 3920 W. Tuscarawas Ave. in Canton.

After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings totaling 26.75%, the winner will receive $36,625.

The Billion scratch-off offers top prizes of $1 million a year for 20 years. As of Aug. 10, two top prizes of $20 million and 44 second-tier prizes of $1 million, paid as $50,000 a year for 20 years, remain unclaimed.

The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $35 billion to education since 1974.
