Watch: Armed Carjacking Turns into Shootout in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD – Montgomery County Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed carjacking and strong-arm robbery that took place on August 29.

The first incident occurred at approximately 2:14 a.m., when officers responded to the 8060 block of 13th St. The adult male victim reported being approached by the suspect on a bicycle, who threatened him and indicated possession of a weapon. The victim handed over his wallet with cash, and the suspect fled southbound on Georgia Ave on his bicycle.

Shortly after, at 2:26 a.m., officers were called to a 7-Eleven located in the 7900 block of Georgia Ave for a carjacking. An adult male victim standing outside the store was approached by the same suspect, who was still on a bicycle. The suspect produced a black handgun and demanded the keys to a silver Toyota Camry. The victim complied, and the suspect drove away in the vehicle, heading toward Washington D.C.

The suspect is described as a juvenile Black male, aged between 14 to 16, and approximately 5-feet, 4-inches to 5-feet 6-inches tall. He was wearing all black clothing, a black face mask, and white/black Nike Air Jordan 12 Retro shoes.

Detectives later discovered that the same suspect and three others used the stolen Camry in another armed robbery attempt that escalated into a shooting in Takoma Park later that day.
