License plate reader alert leads to drug bust in stolen vehicle stop

Anne Arundel County, MD – A stolen license plate detected by a license plate reader system led Anne Arundel County police to stop a vehicle and arrest the driver on drug distribution charges.

During the traffic stop, officers recovered approximately 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 22 grams of suspected powder cocaine. The vehicle was also confirmed to be stolen.

Police credited the arrest to proactive policing and the use of automated technology in identifying stolen property and disrupting criminal activity.
