Firefighters in Barkhamsted, Connecticut arrived just in time to rescue a moose that was stuck on a fence. When they arrived, they found the moose unable to climb over an aluminum fence.

Wardens from the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police arrived on the scene and determined the fire department would be able to assist.

“After some discussion, the decision was made to call in the fire dept to cut one end of the fence and pull the panel down with a truck slowly,” the agency said. “Well thanks to members of the Barkhamsted Fire Dept and their jaws of life, they cut one end of the fence panel and the force of the moose was able to separate the other side having the fence piece fall right to the ground.”

A few seconds after being released, the moose turned and looked at his rescuers then disappeared into the darkness around the nearby reservoir.

Moose are moving a lot these days as they are in their mating season, seeking to find a mate.

Although it appears in the picture that the moose was impaled by the fence, he was just stuck and not injured at all.
