NEW ROCHELLE, NY – A man was rescued by helicopter from a sinking ship off the coast of New Rochelle in the Long Island Sound early Thursday morning, according to police. The New York City Police special operations units were dispatched and lowered by helicopter to rescue the boater in distress. The boater was pulled to a nearby Coast Guard boat and taken to shore.
