Water main break shuts down section of Greene Street in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, Md. – A section of Greene Street between Bridge Street and Johnson Street was temporarily closed Saturday after a water main break forced emergency crews to shut down the roadway, officials said.

The Cumberland Police Department announced the closure on social media, advising motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. City crews were on site assessing the damage, but there was no immediate estimate on when repairs would be completed.

Authorities said the closure will remain in place until the water main is fixed and the roadway is deemed safe for traffic.
