Shots ring out at New Castle Wawa as parking lot confrontation erupts

NEW CASTLE, DE – A late-night stop at a New Castle Wawa turned into a gunfire scene after two groups of men crossed paths outside the store, circled back, and then opened fire in the parking lot before everyone scattered, Delaware State Police said.

Troopers responded at about 9 p.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired at the Wawa at 4000 North Dupont Highway. Investigators said two men arrived, parked, and went inside. When they came out, they encountered a group of three men and a confrontation began for reasons that remain unclear.

Police said the two men initially went back to their vehicle, then returned to the store area looking for the three men. Both groups later located each other in the parking lot, where multiple shots were fired, troopers said. All involved fled immediately after the shooting.
