Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia police are continuing to investigate a weekend mass shooting that claimed one life and injured four others in the city’s 2nd District.
No suspect has been identified and no arrests have been made.
The gunfire erupted at approximately 11:52 p.m. Sunday near the 500 block of East Hill Creek Drive. Officers who were parked nearby at 500 Adams Avenue heard multiple gunshots and immediately responded to the scene after notifying police radio.
Five people struck by gunfire
When officers arrived, they found two victims lying on the ground. Police transported both to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where they were reported in stable condition. The victims were identified as an 18-year-old Black woman who suffered a gunshot wound to her right shoulder and an unidentified Black man who was shot in the left shoulder and right thigh.
Responding officers also located a third victim, an unidentified male listed as John Doe, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:14 a.m.
Two more victims found nearby
Investigators said two additional victims fled into a nearby property on the 5500 block of North Hill Creek Drive. Officers later discovered blood evidence at that location before transporting both victims to Temple University Hospital.
The additional victims were identified as a 45-year-old Black man who suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm and a 16-year-old Black boy who was shot in the left ankle. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
Investigation remains active
The Philadelphia Police Department said a total of five people were struck by gunfire during the incident. Detectives have not announced any arrests, and no motive has been established.
