LANHAM, Md. — An Upper Marlboro man claimed a $1 million Cash4Life prize after purchasing a Quick Pick ticket during a lunch stop at Wegmans in Lanham for the June 18 drawing.

The Prince George’s County resident matched all five white balls but missed the Cash Ball, securing the second-tier prize of $1,000 a week for life. After visiting Lottery Headquarters, the winner and his wife chose the one-time cash option of $1 million.

The winning ticket was bought at the Wegmans store located at 9001 McHugh Drive. The retailer will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the ticket. One other line on the player’s $10 multi-line ticket also won an additional $2.

The player said he scanned his ticket the day after the drawing and saw a message instructing him to visit Lottery Headquarters, prompting him to confirm the prize with a cashier. His wife initially didn’t believe the news until they checked the ticket together at home.

First second-tier Cash4Life prize in Maryland this year

This marks Maryland’s first second-tier Cash4Life winner in 2025 and the 12th since the game launched in the state in 2016. The game offers two top prizes: $1,000 a day for life and $1,000 a week for life. The second-tier prize is awarded to players who match the first five numbers without the Cash Ball.

Cash4Life tickets cost $2 and are available in 10 states. Drawings are held nightly at 9 p.m., and players select five numbers from 1 to 60 and one Cash Ball number from 1 to 4.
