West Virginia Man Wins $10K on Scratch-Off

POMEROY, OH — Shawn Phillips, a West Virginia resident, is celebrating a $10,000 win after playing the Ohio Lottery’s Lady Luck 50X scratch-off game.

Phillips purchased his lucky ticket at Riverside Food Mart #257 on West Main Street in Pomeroy. He chose the ticket on a whim, picking what looked good at the time. As he scratched the ticket, he began hitting the bonuses and quickly realized he had won $10,000.

“I was shocked. I didn’t expect it,” Phillips shared.

After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, Phillips will take home approximately $7,200. He plans to use his winnings to pay off bills.

Lady Luck 50X is a $10 scratch-off game with a top prize of $500,000. As of August 23, three top prizes remain in the game.
