What’s That Smell? Two Fires Near Evesham Causing Lingering Smoke Conditions

October 19, 2024

Fire crews in Evesham, New Jersey, recently tackled a brush fire near the 10th fairway of the Links Golf Course, where it meets the Black Run Preserve. Thanks to the quick response from the Evesham Fire Department (EFD) and New Jersey Forest Fire Service (NJFFS), the fire was successfully contained. They also “burned in” a two-acre area to prevent further spread.

However, another fire in the region is still causing concern. The brush fire on Heath Road in Medford, which had previously been under control, flared up again and continues to smolder. The area around Kings Grant is expected to experience a lingering odor of smoke until a soaking rain finally hits the region—though that might not be for at least 10 days based on current weather forecasts.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and keep an eye on updates from local authorities, as dry conditions persist.
