White Marsh woman hits $100,000 jackpot on scratch-off during routine stop

May 6, 2025

A White Marsh woman won a $100,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket after a spontaneous purchase during a routine visit to a Royal Farms store, lottery officials announced Tuesday.

The woman, who works in the medical insurance field and has played Maryland Lottery games for years, bought a $10 Bingo X10 scratch-off at the Royal Farms location on Pulaski Highway. She told officials the purchase was made simply to pass the time while her husband was at work.

“I had to look three times,” the winner told Maryland Lottery officials, noting her surprise after matching numbers in the “twist” section on Card #8 of the ticket. It was the first time she ever matched numbers in that portion of the game, despite playing it often.

The win marks the first $100,000 top prize claimed on the eighth edition of the Bingo X10 game, which launched in March. According to the Maryland Lottery, five more $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed, along with other smaller prizes.

Retailer receives bonus for selling winning ticket

The Royal Farms store at 10740 Pulaski Highway in White Marsh will receive a $1,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket. The winner, meanwhile, says she has no immediate plans for the prize and does not intend to retire, despite having worked 25 years in her field.

She typically plays $5 and $10 bingo and crossword scratch-off games and occasionally participates in Powerball and Mega Millions drawings.

Maryland Lottery officials continue to promote the remaining prizes available in the Bingo X10 game, which remains in circulation across the state.

A spur-of-the-moment scratch-off buy turned a Baltimore County woman’s quiet afternoon into a six-figure win.
