Wildwood Liquor Makes Public Offer to Alleged Booze Thieves

A North Wildwood liquor store is publicly asking two suspected shoplifters to return and pay for stolen merchandise before the matter is turned over to police.

NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. — Green’s Liquors on 26th Avenue has issued an unusual public offer to individuals accused of stealing merchandise from the store, giving them an opportunity to make things right before law enforcement becomes involved.

In a social media post, the business shared images of the suspected thieves and asked members of the public to help identify them.

“If anyone happens to know these fine upstanding citizens, please reach out to us and let us know!” the store wrote. “Seems they forgot that you have to pay for our products.”

Store offers chance to resolve matter

Rather than immediately pursuing criminal charges, the liquor store said it is willing to remove the social media post and take no further action if the individuals return and pay for the merchandise.

“Picture will come down and no action will be taken if they come back in and pay for what they stole,” the store said.

The post did not specify what items were allegedly taken or the value of the merchandise involved.

Police referral could be next step

Store officials indicated that if the matter is not resolved, information regarding the incident will be forwarded to the North Wildwood Police Department for investigation.

“Next step is sending to Wildwood PD,” the business wrote.

Retail theft continues to be a concern for businesses throughout New Jersey, with many stores increasingly relying on surveillance cameras and social media to help identify suspects.

No arrests have been announced, and the allegations have not been independently verified by law enforcement.
