Wilkes-Barre man arrested for threatening elderly woman with knife

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Wilkes-Barre man was arrested after allegedly threatening a 77-year-old woman with a knife during a domestic dispute, police said.

Officers responded to a residence on Vulcan Street at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they spoke with the victim, who said she had engaged in a verbal altercation with the suspect, identified as Robert Spare, 48, of Wilkes-Barre.

During the argument, Spare allegedly brandished a large knife and threatened the woman with physical harm, according to police.

Spare was taken into custody at the scene and transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment.
