HARRINGTON, Del. — A 28-year-old woman was arrested Friday after allegedly pepper spraying another woman during a dispute at the Delaware State Fair, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded to Gate 7 of the fairgrounds at 200 Simpson Road around 11:15 a.m. for a report of an assault. Investigators say the victim had been involved in an argument with a 26-year-old man while he was driving her to Sussex County. She asked to be dropped off at Harrington Casino, and upon arrival, the man allegedly forced her out of the vehicle.

When the victim reached back into the car to retrieve her purse, a rear-seat passenger identified as Caitlynn Scott of Lincoln allegedly sprayed her in the face with pepper spray. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was hospitalized for injuries related to the chemical exposure.

Police later located the suspect vehicle in Milford and initiated a traffic stop. Both Scott and the 26-year-old man were taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3. Scott was charged with felony assault, while the man was charged with a misdemeanor assault-related offense.

Scott and the other suspect were not identified further by police in the statement.

The incident took place near a major entrance to the fairgrounds during daytime hours.
