Woman assaulted and robbed in late-night attack in Queens

QUEENS, NY – A young woman was attacked and robbed Tuesday night on a quiet street in Sunnyside after being ambushed from behind by an unidentified female assailant.

The assault happened around 10:08 p.m. in front of 45-09 39th Place, police said.

The 21-year-old victim was walking when the attacker grabbed her by the hair, punched her repeatedly in the face, and snatched her phone before fleeing on foot.

Police searching for female suspect

Authorities described the suspect as a female last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, black pants, and carrying a dark-colored bag. She fled in an unknown direction following the attack.

Victim treated for facial injuries

Emergency responders transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was listed in stable condition after suffering facial injuries. Detectives are reviewing area surveillance footage and canvassing for witnesses as the investigation continues.
