Glen Burnie man arrested after woman chased and robbed in broad daylight

Glen Burnie, MD – A woman standing beside her vehicle on a Glen Burnie roadway Tuesday morning broke free and ran for safety after a man allegedly tried to force her into her own car before stealing her phone and fleeing on foot, police said.

The incident occurred Tuesday at approximately 10:25 a.m. in the area of Old Stage Road and Baylor Road, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance and learned that an adult female victim had been approached by an unknown man while she was standing next to her parked vehicle. The suspect allegedly grabbed the woman by her arms and attempted to force her into the vehicle.

Police said the woman was able to free herself and began running down Old Stage Road. The suspect chased her, took her phone and fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers obtained a description of the suspect and located him a short distance away. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Police identified the suspect as Damien Ernest Eldridge, 44, of Glen Burnie. He was arrested in connection with the incident. Formal charges were not immediately detailed in the department’s public advisory.
