Woman fatally shot, man stabbed in separate Philadelphia attacks

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A woman was shot and killed and a man was stabbed in two separate incidents Tuesday afternoon in Philadelphia, according to police.

In the 1st District, officers responded to the 2100 block of Bailey Terrace around 5:16 p.m. where a female victim had been shot. Medics transported her to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m.

The scene was secured by police, but no arrests have been made. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity and no motive has been established. The case is being handled by the Homicide Unit.

“The investigation is ongoing and being handled by the Homicide Unit,” police said in a statement. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department’s Homicide Unit or leave an anonymous tip.

No weapon has been recovered, and officials did not disclose the number of gunshot wounds or where the victim was struck.

Man stabbed on highway near South 15th Street

Earlier in the day, in an unrelated incident in the 9th District, an adult male was stabbed on the highway near the 100 block of South 15th Street. Police said the attack occurred at approximately 4:23 p.m.

Officers transported the victim to Jefferson Hospital. His condition has not been disclosed, and his identity has not been released.

The Central Detective Division is leading the investigation, which remains active. No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing.

Police have not stated whether the victim and suspect knew each other, and no motive has been established.
