Woman found dead after SUV crashes into pond in Baltimore County

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A 35-year-old woman was killed Sunday afternoon when the SUV she was driving veered off the road and submerged in a pond, according to Baltimore County Police.

Officers responded around 4:10 p.m. to the area of Dark Hollow and Dover roads following reports of a crash. Investigators determined that a 2024 Ford Edge was traveling northbound on Dark Hollow Road when it left the roadway, went through a fence, and entered a private pond in the 15600 block of Dover Road.

First responders from the Baltimore County Fire Department discovered the vehicle underwater. The driver, identified as Brittany Howard, was found inside the submerged SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the Carroll County Dive Team also assisted in the recovery efforts.

The Baltimore County Police Department’s Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
