CHESAPEAKE, VA – Police are investigating a daytime shooting that left a woman injured after gunfire erupted between two vehicles Sunday afternoon near one of the city’s busiest intersections.
According to the Chesapeake Police Department, officers responded around 2:20 p.m. to Battlefield Boulevard and Volvo Parkway for reports of an injured person. Preliminary findings indicate that two men in one vehicle opened fire on a yellow Jeep at an unknown location within city limits, striking one of the occupants.
The Jeep came to a stop at the intersection, where responding officers and emergency medical crews provided immediate aid. The victim, an adult woman, was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police seek information from witnesses
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting and have not yet released suspect descriptions. The roadway remained partially blocked Sunday afternoon as evidence technicians processed the scene.
