WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving two vehicles that occurred Thursday morning in Wilmington, leaving one woman dead and two others injured.

The crash took place on December 5 at approximately 10:20 a.m. when a Honda Civic attempted a left turn onto East Lea Boulevard southbound from Colony Boulevard. A GMC Yukon traveling northbound on East Lea Boulevard struck the driver’s side of the Honda after the smaller car pulled into its path, according to preliminary findings.

The driver of the Honda, a 32-year-old woman from Wilmington, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was transported to an area hospital, where she died two days later on Saturday. Authorities have not released her name, pending notification of her family.

A 28-year-old passenger in the Honda, also unrestrained, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The driver of the GMC, a 36-year-old Wilmington man, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with no charges filed at this time.
